Getting started
What is Support Hustle?
Support Hustle is a free tipping page for creators in Kenya, made by ZetuPay. Fans open your link, choose an amount, add a message if they like and approve an M-Pesa prompt. The money goes straight into your own Till, Paybill or bank account.
Is Support Hustle like Buy Me a Coffee for Kenya?
Yes, it works the same way: one link where fans can support your work and leave a message. The difference is that it is built around M-Pesa. Fans pay with an M-Pesa prompt and the money lands in your own M-Pesa Till, Paybill or bank account.
Who can create a page?
Anyone in Kenya with a hustle: musicians, artists, podcasters, comedians, writers, coaches and more. You need a Kenyan phone number, an account to receive into, and to pass a quick check of your name, ID number and phone before your page takes tips.
Do I need a Till or Paybill to receive tips?
Yes. M-Pesa prompts pay into a Till (Buy Goods), a Paybill or a bank account through the bank’s Paybill, so you need one of those in your name. A personal M-Pesa number can’t receive these prompts.
Can I change my username later?
Not from the dashboard yet. Pick a username you are happy to share; contact ZetuPay support if you need it changed.
Getting paid
Does Support Hustle hold my money?
No. ZetuPay never holds your tips. The M-Pesa prompt pays your own Till, Paybill or bank account directly, so there is nothing to withdraw: the money is yours as soon as the fan pays.
How fast do I get the money?
Right away. M-Pesa pays your account when the supporter enters their PIN, and the tip shows up in your dashboard with their message.
Can I change where I get paid?
Yes. Under Get paid, add a new Till, Paybill or bank account. New support goes there; past tips stay where they were paid.
Can I turn my page off for a while?
Yes. Switch off “Take support” under My page. Supporters see that you’re not taking support right now, and you can switch it back on at any time.
Fees and tokens
How much does Support Hustle cost?
Creating a page is free and no percentage of your tips is taken. You buy tokens upfront with M-Pesa and each tip uses one. The current token price is shown in your dashboard before you buy.
What happens when I run out of tokens?
Your page stops taking support until you buy more, and supporters see that you’re not taking support right now. Your dashboard shows how many tips your tokens cover.
Fans and payments
How do fans send me money?
They open your page, tap a suggested amount or type their own, enter their M-Pesa number and approve the prompt on their phone with their M-Pesa PIN. They don’t need an app or an account.
Can supporters leave a message?
Yes. Supporters can add their name and a message. They can keep the message private so only you see it. Amounts are never shown on your public page.
Can I see who supported me?
Yes. Your dashboard lists every supporter with their name, message and amount, and the last digits of the number they paid from.
What if a supporter’s payment fails?
If the prompt is cancelled, times out or their balance isn’t enough, nothing is paid and they can try again from your page.
Is Support Hustle safe for supporters?
Supporters approve every payment on their own phone with their M-Pesa PIN. They never type their PIN on the page.
Can fans pay by card?
Not yet. Support Hustle takes M-Pesa for now.
Privacy
Is my ID number shown on my page?
No. Only ZetuPay sees the details you send for the check. Your page shows only what you add under My page.
